Replacing a Vandalized Panel in Fort McHenry’s Timeline Exhibit

This exhibit in the historic star fort was created before my tenure with the National Park Service began. What started as peeling around the edges turned into a much larger concern as visitors tore off large pieces of a panel displaying images of WWII-era collection items. The park’s curators and facilities manager asked me to match the previous design as closely as possible while implementing reasonable updates. I searched the collections database to locate and scan the necessary items and arranged them according to the design prompt; “Make it look like all the items are spread out on a soldier's desk.” I also adjusted the angle of the text prompting visitors to utilize the audio element of this section (and the element itself) so that it was readable and accessible from both sides of the table.
